The Fat Smash Diet is a ninety day, four phase weight loss program designed to smash bad habits and make permanent lifestyle changes in both eating and physical activity. The diet plan was developed by Dr. Ian Smith after he became a weight loss consultant for the Celebrity Fit Club television program.
The Fat Smash Diet is designed to rewire the body and the relationship it has with both food and physical activity. The lifestyle changes required can help you maintain your weight once you reach your weight goal. It is a flexibile diet plan which uses a variety of healthy foods, emphasizing whole grains, fresh produce, fish, poultry and healthy fats.
One of the principles behind the Fat Smash Diet is eating four to five small meals or snack every day, no more than three to four hours apart.
Establishing a regular eating schedule will help avoid hunger pangs, while eating small portions is designed to help your weight loss goals. You are encouraged to eat raw, baked, steamed or grilled foods and always eat fruits and vegetables in all stages of the diet.
The four stages are designed to work as a pyramid, each stage building on the previous one. The first phase is a nine day detoxification stage, when you can get rid of toxins in the body, toxins from processed foods, the environment, caffeine and alcohol. It does not involve a fasting diet, rather a vegetarian one with some dairy and egg whites included. You can eat fresh fruits and vegetables in any quantity except white or red potatoes and avocados. Vegetables can be eaten raw or lightly cooked as well. The next phase is a three week period which is called the foundation stage. You can add lean meat, turkey, chicken or fish. You can also add unlimited herbs and spices. The next four week period is called the construction stage while the last stage is the lifelong temple stage. In the construction phase you need to have at least four meals per day. You add whole grains, you can have larger portions and ample amounts of fruits and vegetables.
